Fr Brian agreed for the Knights to undertake the necessary remedial work on the Grotto and Eddie Davies recruited three other members -- Kevin Egan, Kevin Umina and John Mooney -- to assist him in this most important task. 

 

The existing glass had been disfigured with graffiti and the structure around it had deteriorated allowing rubbish into the Grotto. The decision was made to replace the existing façade, to give the crucifixion statues a thorough clean and to perform general maintenance work on the Grotto stonework.
