SYM Listening with Young People

As part of the national consultation for the renewed vision of Catholic youth ministry in Australia, Sandhurst Youth Ministry (SYM) hosted an online listening session on 16 June 2026.

Young people and young adults from different parishes across the Diocese joined us for an evening of conversation, reflection, and sharing about their experiences of faith and life in the Church today.

The session allowed participants to speak openly about what helps them grow in their faith, the challenges they face as young Catholics, and their hopes for the future of the Church. It was encouraging to hear different perspectives and to see young people engaging thoughtfully with the questions that were presented.

For us, as the Youth Ministry Team, the gathering was a reminder of how important it is to create spaces where young people feel heard and valued.

We are grateful to everyone who participated and generously shared their experiences. Their insights will contribute to the national process as the Church continues to listen, discern and walk together with young people across Australia.
