Description

TheGospel of John is unique among the four gospels.  It is not a narrative of the life andministry of Jesus but rather an extended and profound reflection onIncarnation, the Word of God made incarnate in Jesus. The gospel is structuredaround key discourses of Jesus, several of which he delivers in Jerusalem whileattending feasts in the Temple.  There are also extended miracle stories around such themes as light and eternal life. The passion narrative in John contains some first had witness details.  The purpose of the gospel, as clearly stated (20:30-31) is to bring new generations to faith in Jesus. The Gospel of John was written towards the end of the first century, by a Johannine school. This gospel is a favourite of many people.
