Description

The Gospel of John is unique among thefour gospels.  It is not a narrative ofthe life and ministry of Jesus but rather an extended and profound reflectionon Incarnation, the Word of God made incarnate in Jesus. The gospel isstructured around key discourses of Jesus, several of which he delivers inJerusalem while attending feasts in the Temple.  There are also extended miracle stories aroundsuch themes as light and eternal life. The passion narrative in John containssome first had witness details.  The purpose of the gospel, as clearly stated (20:30-31) is to bring new generationsto faith in Jesus. The Gospel of John was written towards the end of the firstcentury, by a Johannine school. This gospel is a favourite of many people.
