CDOS 2025 Year in Review

Year in Review 2025 Catholic Diocese of Sandhurst 39 A Shepherd Amongst His Flock When Bishop Shane visits a parish, classrooms and playgrounds are always part of the plan. At St Patrick’s Primary in Tongala, he chatted with students in the playground and collected eggs from the school chooks. When the playtime bell rang, he joined Catholic Identity Leaders on a Catholic Identity Marker Walk, which led him to St Patrick’s Church, where the entire school had mustered to surprise him with a choral performance which, by Bishop Shane’s account, was one of the best he’s heard. Bishop’s Visit Forecast: Shared Meal and Good Chance of Cake On 2 July, at St Augustine’s College, Kyabram, Bishop Shane cut into an enormous “Welcome Cake.” Just days earlier, Tatura parishioners had surprised him with a belated birthday cake. Thankfully, Bishop Shane embraces this sweet side of ministry, following Jesus’ example of feasting with purpose, where shared meals become moments of connection, joy and welcome. Communities of Faith Parish Visitation Program The Parish Visitation Program continued in 2025, with Bishop Shane Mackinlay visiting Benalla, Kyabram and Tatura. The Program aims to strengthen parish life by fostering dialogue with the Bishop, Chancery and local communities, providing space to share experiences, reflect on challenges, and discern goals, while supporting renewal, collaboration and a synodal approach to vibrant, faith-filled parishes
