Education Board makes way

for Council

T

he Sandhurst School Education Board (SSEB) held its final meeting on Thursday,

November 17, 2016, at St Peter’s Primary School in North Bendigo. Established in 1997,

the SSEB has served the education community of the Sandhurst Diocese for the past 19

years.

In 2017, the Sandhurst Catholic Education Council (SCEC) will be will be inaugurated.

The Council will be advisory to the Bishop, through the Episcopal Vicar for Education, and

to the Director of Catholic Education for all matters relating to Catholic Education in the

Diocese.

The constitution of the newCouncil has beenwritten and approved by Bishop Les Tomlinson;

however, the composition of the council membership is still to be determined.

To commemorate the final SSEB meeting, a liturgy of celebration was held in the De Campo

Hall at the Catholic Education Office in Bendigo to acknowledge the significant contribution

the SSEB has made to Catholic Education in the Diocese for almost two decades.

Current SSEB members were also acknowledged for their contribution and were presented

with a gift from Bishop Tomlinson in appreciation of their time as members of the Sandhurst

School Education Board.

The gathering was also an opportunity to launch the Catholic Education Sandhurst Strategic

Plan 2017-2020. Director of Catholic Education Sandhurst, Mr Paul Desmond presented a

bound edition of the Strategic Plan to the Bishop of Sandhurst, Bishop Leslie Tomlinson.

Community members from the Catholic Education Office (CEO), SSEBmembers, Chancery

staff and members of the Review Committee were in attendance, along with Mrs Margaret

McKenna who oversaw the CEO Strategic Planning process.
